Our ECSE classroom is off to a fantastic start to the new school year. This year the building is featuring the jungle. Our class is "spotted" on our giraffe friend in the hallway. We have enjoyed some really good books during our read aloud time hanging out (upside down) with Mr. Sloth. Our class kindness and helpful tree has toucans. We made our own "You Can, Toucan" after reading the book by the same title. Our class goal is to fill our tree with the toucans by using kind or helpful words or actions. We have been busy learning school expectations and building our school family. Using the Conscious Discipline program created by Dr. Becky Bailey, the classroom has incorporated numerous aspects of her program such as use of visuals, expectations modeled and reviewed often, connecting with our school family members, and practicing using our kind or helpful words and actions. We are learning several of the "I Love You" rituals as well as the basic breathing techniques. If you ever want more information about the Conscious Discipline program and how we use it at school or how you can implement in your home, please give me a call. It is always a pleasure to share something with others that has been such a success in my classroom and helped so many of my students.
As we enter the second quarter of the school year, we have welcomed several new friends into our families and have several more that will be starting soon. We have had to wish a couple of friends well as they moved out of our school family. The class is busy with the upcoming holidays and all the "fun" centered around Halloween.
